
The Television Academy recognizes the career of Mayra G mez Kemp El Consejo de la Academia de Televisi n ha decidido premiar con su m ximo galard n, el Premio Toda una Vida 2013, a la reconocida actriz y presentadora. El Consejo de la Academia de las Ciencias y las Artes de Televisi n en su reuni n plenaria de este jueves ha decidido conceder el Premio Iris Toda una Vida 2013, el m ximo galard n de la Instituci n, a la reconocida actriz y presentadora Mayra G mez Kemp en reconocimiento a una trayectoria profesional ligada al medio televisivo. La ceremonia de entrega de los XVI Premios Iris ser el pr ximo 10 de junio en el Gran Casino Aranjuez.
En anteriores convocatorias este premio ha sido entregado a importantes figuras del mundo televisivo como Jes s Hermida, Miguel de la Quadra Salcedo, Antonio Mercero, Chicho Ib ez Serrador, Josefina Molina, Mat as Prats Sr., Jos de las Casas, Pedro Amalio L pez, Emilio Arag n Miliki , Rosa Mar a Calaf, Rosa Mar a Mateo, Concha Velasco, Jos ngel de la Casa, Jos Mar a igo y Laura Valenzuela. En su ltima edici n la Academia reconoci con el Premio Iris Toda una Vida a la periodista Mar a Teresa Campos.
El Consejo de la Academia es el rgano m ximo de decisi n de la Instituci n en el que participa la Junta Directiva y est formado por representantes de las cadenas generalistas, canales auton micos, plataformas digitales y entidades de gesti n de derechos de autor.
Toda una vida dedicada a la peque a pantalla
Naci en la Habana (Cuba). Hija de dos famosos artistas cubanos, Ramiro G mez Kemp y Velia Mart nez Febles, se trasladaron en 1960 a Puerto Rico, despu s a Venezuela y posteriormente a Miami. Siendo universitaria comenz a trabajar en cine con el nombre art stico de Mayra Christine.
En 1970 llega a Espa a y en 1971 comienza a trabajar en una agencia de publicidad en Catalu a y en un programa de Radio Barcelona de la Cadena Ser, presentado por Joaqu n Prat. Mayra pasa a trabajar en la versi n espa ola teatral de la famosa Rocky Horror Picture Show en 1973 interpretando el papel de Magenta. En dichas representaciones, coincide con el actor argentino Alberto Berco, que ejerc a como narrador en la obra y que con el tiempo se convertir a en su esposo.
En 1976 debuta en televisi n como actriz en el m tico Un, dos, tres haciendo papeles espor dicos. Su primera aparici n fue en el programa dedicado a Las 1001 noches donde interpretaba a una hur del islam. A pesar de no ser una actriz fija, sus apariciones fueron haci ndola m s famosa hasta que dej el programa en 1977.
Ese mismo a o forma el Tr o Acuario junto con Mar a Dur n y Beatriz Escudero, cosechando grandes xitos como Rema, rema, marinero. En 1978 decide abandonar el conjunto para iniciar su carrera musical en solitario, llegando a grabar un disco titulado Una Dama y apareciendo en la pel cula Donde manda patr n junto a Manolo Escobar.
En 1978 inicia su carrera como presentadora en el programa 625 l neas consiguiendo el TP de Oro. Ya en los ochenta presenta otros programas como Ding-Dong o el Festival de Benidorm de 1980. Despu s, junto con otros presentadores, se pone al frente del programa infantil Sabadabada, que cambi despu s su nombre a Dabadabada.
En 1982 Chicho Ib ez Serrador la elige para presentar el concurso Un, dos, tres siendo la conductora del mismo durante seis a os consecutivos y recibiendo otros tres premios TP de Oro a la mejor presentadora. El concurso lo compagin con sus trabajos en radio, presentando el programa Viva la gente en Antena 3 Radio junto a Jos Antonio Plaza.
En 1989 Mayra pasa a Antena 3 Televisi n para presentar la primera retrasmisi n en directo de una televisi n privada: las campanadas desde la Puerta del Sol para recibir 1990, en las emisiones en pruebas de este canal. La cadena inauguraba sus emisiones oficiales en enero tras el discurso de bienvenida de Jos Mar a Carrascal, con el programa La ruleta de la fortuna presentado por Mayra hasta 1991. Despu s, en 1992 pasa a las televisiones auton micas para presentar con gran xito el programa Luna de miel.
Tras varios trabajos en auton micas, en 1996 present en el madrile o Canal 7 el programa m dico El ritmo de la vida y en 1999 presenta el concurso culinario Tomates y pimientos.
A partir de entonces interviene en programas como Ala Dina!, El Club de Flo (laSexta), A 3 bandas (Antena 3) y en 2008 pasa a ser colaboradora habitual como contertulia en las ma anas de Arag n TV en el magac n Sin ir m s lejos.
En 2009 sufre un c ncer de lengua por el que tuvo que ser operada y del cual se recuper totalmente en 2010. Pero en 2012 anuncia de nuevo un c ncer de garganta, el cual ha superado completamente.
