W gains exclusive access to HART team in brand new documentary series, 999: NHS Rescue Squad

Brand new documentary series, 999: NHS Rescue Squad heads to W, on Tuesday 13th February 2018 at 10pm.

The landmark series offers exclusive access to the Yorkshire Ambulance Services Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), the first in the UK to allow cameras to follow its medics at work. Its one of 16 specialist medical units set up after the 7/7 London bombings to treat badly injured patients in extreme environments.

Throughout the series, viewers will gain unprecedented access to the UKs toughest medics as they race against time to rescue individuals in life-threatening situations. From drive-by shootings, to major chemical leaks and dangerous civil disturbances, HART face it all to ensure the safety of others.

In the first episode, the team races to the rescue of a tanker driver, who is in the wreckage of his crushed cab after a collision with a concrete gantry on the M1. As firefighters try to establish if the tankers toxic cargo is leaking, Paramedic Paul puts his own safety on the line to climb onto the truck to deliver pain killing drugs to his patient.

Meanwhile in South Yorkshire, a waste disposal plant catches fire, spewing poisonous smoke into the air over a housing estate. The team must evacuate residents and treat workers injured in to the blast as red hot aerosol cans rain down from the sky.

999: NHS Rescue Squad starts on Tuesday 13th February at 10pm, only on W.
