Panasonic addresses the 4K workflow with the new VariCam 35 With its extension of formats, ranging from the 4K RAW impeccable production to capture more practice 4 k, UHD, 2K and HD, the new VariCam 35 represents an option to keep in mind for the digital capture of first level.
Panasonic He has announced changes to the VariCam 35 4 K, a product that is very close to reach the market. Thus, the new VariCam will include support for Apple ProRes 4444 and ProRes HQ for high-definition recording as well as a strategic product development alliance with Codex Digital to offer a recording RAW 4K uncompressed high speed.
Codex has worked on closely with Panasonic to develop a dedicated recorder which captures uncompressed 4K VariCam RAW (V-RAW) at speeds of up to 120 fps, reinforcing the suitability of the 35 VariCam for high-end cinema applications. The Codex V-RAW recorder will connect directly with the camera Panasonic Varicam 35, eliminating completely the wiring to facilitate greater efficiency and a greater mobility.
The VariCam 35 a super 35 mm MOS image sensor incorporates new development and the Panasonic AVC-Ultra family of video codecs. The new camera allows recording in multiple formats, including 4K, UHD, 2K and HD, so it is suitable for high-end film and TV series, advertisements or events live and in 4K.
Panasonic has taken advantage of his presence at the NAB to publicize the modular design of the new VariCam: 4K (AU-V35C1) unit is separated from the units recording (AU-VREC1), which allows the Exchange with the new camera module 2/3 "Panasonic (AU-V23HS1).
This flexibility can be expanded with an umbilical cord between s35mm 4K camera and recorder AVC-Ultra, which provides functionality of the camera cranes and other "remote" the camera needs. This common recording module allows professionals to switch s35mm head to one of 2/3 "for having the camera that better adapts to your creative needs.
The VariCam 35 is ready for launch in the fall of 2014, with a sale below recommended retail price 69,000 dollars (50,000 euros), including the electronic viewfinder.
VariCam HS
In addition to the 35, thanks to its modular conception there is a new version of Varicam (HS), which incorporates the family of codecs AVC-Ultra as well as image capture high speed up to 1080 p ideal for the most demanding documentaries, sports or slow applications SFX.
With an innovative design modular, the head of the VariCam HS 2/3 "fits with the AVC-Ultra recording module, to provide the full functionality of a conventional Camera/Recorder production.
This flexibility can be extended with an umbilical cord between s35mm 4K camera and recorder AVC - Ultra, which provides functionality of the camera cranes and other "remote" the camera needs. This common recording module allows professionals to switch s35mm head to one of 2/3 "for having the camera that better adapts to your creative needs.
Given the prominence of ProRes as a format of popular Edition within the production community, their inclusion on the VariCam 35 will contribute to solidly position this device in a commonly accepted HD workflow.
The VariCam HS has three MOS sensors of new development of 1920 x 1080 with 14 steps of latitude, which provides total control over a wide range of conditions unmatched lighting and an unmatched recording and native 1080 p operation. The Camera/Recorder has a system classic images/Prism RGB that provides resolution color processing complete equi-band for all types of applications.
The main features of the camcorder include high frames rates both in the recording in real-time as in recording off-speed of 240 fps at 1080 p (AVC-Intra Class100), in addition to the possibility of changing frame rates during recording. To complement the stunning video quality, the new HS VariCam has 24-bit LPCM audio capabilities. It also includes image controls powerful and creative, such as matrix, detail, gamma, and a new "differentiated" for highly respected management of image contrast controls FilmRec and Stretch of dynamic range (DRS).
The VariCam HS setting price will be about 62,000 dollars (45,000 euros), including electronic viewfinder and shoulder module.
A new family with wireless connectivity
NAB 2014, we can also see the first member of a new family of camcorders whose main characteristic is the wireless connectivity. In principle, it consists of two chambers, PX270 and PX5000 and a recorder AJ-PD500.These three teams have Micro P2 card, although they can also operate with the already classic P2 Panasonic. Even so, we could also work with standard SD cards, not very recommended option when it gets below 50 Mbos. Both camcorder working at 1080 50 p and have connectivity via 3G, 4G (in the future) and WiFi. It is of note that Panasonic has launched a virtual version of your remote control AG-EC4 for iOS devices (coming soon for Android).
But without a doubt, one of the stars of this fair is the new AJ-PX270, first handheld camera which recorded AVC-Ultra in P2 and MicroP2 cards. Just 2.6 kilograms of weight, one of its great advantages is that you can connect network, so we can transfer the recorded files via the connection LAN, Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G, and thus transmit live via streaming, upload it to the cloud or send the captured files to quality proxy editing Department.
Having several slots, we can record on two supports at the same time, by combining cards microP2 (2 slots), normal P2 or any standard SD card, which will be useful to record and in turn make a backup copy, to capture in different codecs or recorded on background (while a card recorded non-stop, the other can go recording and stopping without affecting the other).
Also lets you choose among several recording modes as appropriate, i.e. If it rewards the quality of image can record AVC-Intra100, however, if you want to transmit streaming can record
