WA-CX24 stereo valve mic from Warm Audio

Recreates AKGs sought-after C24

Warm Audio have announced the launch of a new stereo valve microphone that offers a modern take on AKG's sought-after C24. Equipped with a pair of the same CK12-style capsules used in the WA-CX12 and TAB-Funkenwerk USA output transformers, the WA-CX24 is said to deliver an authentic recreation of the praised design, but with a price tag far below that of surviving original models.

The company say that the WA-CX24 has been designed to capture the spaciousness and character that made the C24 so popular, boasting a rich-sounding midrange and smooth top-end response. Each capsule offer a choice of three traditional polar patterns (cardioid, omni and figure-of-eight) along with six intermediate polar patterns, while a rotating capsule assembly (up to 180 degrees) unlocks a range of traditional stereo miking configurations such as X-Y, Blumlein and Mid-Side.

The WA-CX24 is loaded with two of the same CK12-style capsules used in Warm Audio's renowned WA-CX12 microphone, which are machined out of solid brass and designed to deliver a vintage-correct sound character. The mic houses a premium 12AY7 valve, while the output stages are taken care of by a pair of USA-made T14 transformers from TAB-Funkenwork.

The WA-CX24 comes supplied with a dual-pattern power supply, a shockmount, a Gotham GAC-9 nine-pin cable, an IEC power cable, a custom wood display box and a rugged tweed flight case.
