Four Corners Honours You Mon

Representatives of Cuba Gooding Jnrs indie film Life of a King have invited South African gangland thriller Four Corners, to participate in a unique parallel screening of the two films at the upcoming San Francisco Black Film Festival.

Academy award-winner Cuba Gooding will attend the festival and plays the lead role in Life of a King, which tells the true story of reformed offender Eugene Brown, a prison inmate of nearly 20 years who founded Washington D.C. inner city chess club Big Chair Chess Club Inc.'

It is more than coincidence that these two movies, Four Corners and Life of a King, both dealing with chess and urban youth gangs, were unveiled just months apart. says Kelli Hunter, a spokesperson for the film. The message delivered by Ricardo at the end of Four Corners: You cant stand still - you have to make your move, is a strong message for youth everywhere.

Four Corners premiered on US screens last week at the Seattle International Film Festival, where it was highlighted as one of the festivals films to watch. The movie's Youth Month schedule includes the release of the film on VOD for the month of June through DSTV Box Office, a special screening for the launch of Short and Sweet in Soweto, the Australian premiere of the film on 7th June at the Sydney Film Festival, with a second screening on 11th June, and the special parallel screening at the San Francisco Black Film Festival on 13th June, attended by Cuba Gooding Jnr.

A special Arts Festival screenings on Youth Day June 16th will be held at Hermanus and Hawston for local communities in those areas. Four Corners has also been selected as closing night film at the Niagara Independent Film Festival on 22nd June, which will be attended by the film's director Ian Gabriel.
