Brand-new Sky 1 drama Jamestown concluded recently with an average audience of 1.3 million viewers across its eight episodes, making it one of the highest performing original dramas on Sky 1 to date.
The series, from multi-award-winning production company, Carnival Films, drew to a poignant close at the end of June. Heroine Jocelyn's fate was sealed as a ship from England brought new women, new laws and a letter from Temperance's cousin, and a covert deal struck by Redwick divided the settlement in a way that would change Jamestown forever.
Over the course of the series' run, within its Friday 9pm time slot, Jamestown outperformed offerings from both BBC Two and Channel 5 within pay homes.
Viewers have also taken advantage of watching the drama flexibly, with more than 3.2 million total downloads made of the series through Sky's on demand platforms, including the Sky Go app and online streaming service NOW TV. This number will continue to grow over the coming months.

Critics have also responded strongly to Jamestown, with The Evening Standard describing the show as a new TV obsession , Broadcast stating that it is impossible to resist , The Times calling it a gripping Western-style adventure and The Radio Times saying that the series looks gorgeous, like a garden of Eden that venal men are set on ruining this could run and run .

Bill Gallagher has brilliantly re-created the brooding atmosphere of Jamestown, a viper's nest of intrigue and politics inhabited by an intriguing cast of characters. As a British take on the beginning of the new world, this is truly original drama and we are already hard at work on new episodes.
Jamestown will return to Sky 1 and NOW TV in 2018 with a brand new eight-part second series. Written by Bill Gallagher, the second series will see the ensemble cast led by Naomi Battrick as Jocelyn, Sophie Rundle as Alice, Niamh Walsh as Verity, Max Beesley as Henry and Jason Flemying as Yeardley return for more adventures in 17th century America.
