Features award-winning City prime-time schedule, including hits 2 Broke Girls, Revolution, Modern Family, and all-new original series Seed TORONTO (January 11, 2013) City edges closer towards a national footprint for its premium programming beginning this February with the debut of City Montreal. On Monday, Feb. 4, City Montreal launches its rich daytime and prime-time schedule featuring all the hit home-grown and acquired series Canadians have come to love, including How I Met Your Mother, Person of Interest, New Girl, Revolution, Revenge, Cityline Canada's longest-running lifestyle show for women and the upcoming City original comedies Seed, Package Deal, and newly announced animated comedy, Mother Up!.
The all-new City Montreal prime-time schedule kicks off February 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a dose of O' Canada as How I Met Your Mother features Canadian guest stars Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Paul Shaffer (Late Show With David Letterman), Jason Priestley (Call Me Fitz), Alex Trebek (Jeopardy), K.D. Lang, Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies), Geddy Lee (Rush), and Luc Robitaille (former NHL hockey player). Then, City presents the hilarious new original comedy Seed at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT which follows Harry (Adam Korson, 2 Broke Girls), an ill-equipped bachelor who discovers his foray into sperm donation has resulted in kids (lots of kids!) and finds himself entangled in the lives of his newfound children and their less-than-thrilled families. Acclaimed comedies 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly follow at 9 and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT respectively, rounding out the night with a fresh twist on sex-ed with The Carrie Diaries at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings).
City Montreal continues to deliver quality programming throughout the week from day-time darling Katie featuring trusted journalist and former news anchor Katie Couric, to night-time hit-makers New Girl, Modern Family, Person of Interest, and the all-new political laugh-maker 1600 Penn (full prime-time broadcast schedule below).
In addition to world-class national content, City Montreal will produce and deliver 15.5 hours of original local programming not currently available from existing English-language stations in the market including daily weekday morning show Breakfast Television and weekly sports show Connected Montreal. The new City Montreal in-house productions will add more than 20 new production jobs in the Montreal market. Details to be announced at a later date.
On December 20, 2012, Rogers Media received CRTC approval to acquire Mtro14 Montral and launch the English-language station City Montreal. City Montreal marks the third expansion for the brand in the past year following the launch of City Saskatchewan and City programming in three key markets in Western Canada Kamloops, B.C., Prince George, B.C., and Medicine Hat, AB. City is now available in more than nine million homes across Canada.
