RTVE and the Polytechnic University of Madrid renew their partnership agreement to promote technological development of audiovisual content In the new stage of RTVE Chair at the UPM work in the field of communication networks of new generation (5G and others) and their potential for use in the broadcast sector will expand.
Radio Televisi n Espa ola y la Universidad Polit cnica de Madrid, a trav s de la Fundaci n Rogelio Segovia para el Desarrollo de las Telecomunicaciones (FUNDETEL), han suscrito este viernes la renovaci n de la C tedra de RTVE en dicha Universidad. La C tedra, constituida en enero de 2015, incluye la colaboraci n estrat gica entre ambas entidades en actividades de formaci n, investigaci n, estudio y divulgaci n. El acto ha contado con la presencia del rector de la UPM, Guillermo Cisneros.
Tras la firma, F lix P rez ha destacado la cercan a entre UPM y RTVE por la vocaci n de servicio p blico, as como el entronque de los servicios audiovisuales con las telecomunicaciones y el papel aglutinador del sector ante la transformaci n tecnol gica. Por su parte, Enrique Alejo ha recordado que esta C tedra fue la primera de RTVE y, por ello, es especial , y ha expresado la satisfacci n rec proca y agradecimiento mutuo en estos dos a os. No queremos estar ausentes de la transformaci n del sector , ha remarcado.
The rector of the UPM, Guillermo Cisneros, stressed that the University "offers its full potential Chair engineering" and stressed that "facilitates three missions to the university: teaching, research and knowledge transfer."
The director of the Chair, Jos Manuel Menendez, explained that "addresses innovation in new signal formats and broadcast television signal, but also affects the promotion of technological vocations and aims to improve the teaching conditions providing new infrastructure and bringing students the reality of the sector ".
Two years of intense collaboration
Ambas entidades han renovado la C tedra por la satisfacci n con el resultado obtenido en estos dos a os, tanto desde el punto de vista tecnol gico como educativo y de innovaci n. Hasta el momento, se han llevado a cabo un conjunto de experiencias en el campo de la UHD (Ultra Alta Definici n, m s conocida comercialmente como 4K), con prospecci n tecnol gica e implicaci n del sector, amplia participaci n empresarial y actividades educativas espec ficas.
In this regard, they highlight the numerous emission tests in UHD effected and, especially, those carried out in TDT, where it has been possible not only to demonstrate that emissions in UHD are realistic and efficient, but also appreciate the advantages of both conjunctive use of DVB-T2 and HEVC as differential features that enable greater efficiency in the use of radio spectrum, and better signal more immersivity in UHD (HDR, WCG or next-generation audio).
In addition, apart from producing specific content in UHD, it has placed special emphasis on studying its behavior in the different elements of the value chain end to end for live broadcasts from the catchment to the reception. To do this, they have been used as distribution platforms DTT, satellite (DVB-S2) and (better known as "Red Button" HbbTV,) hybrid television.
Given the nature of the Chair, they have publicly presented all the experiences made by specific days own and through participation in events and relevant national and international trade fairs.
In this new stage begins, the scope will be extended to the study of communication networks of new generation (5G and others), facing possible use the broadcast sector to improve production processes.
Before the signing of this agreement, RTVE and the Polytechnic University of Madrid and had worked punctually on experiences as the first experimental emissions UHD DTT or early emissions testing High Definition DTT including interactive services (Campus HD, 2006).
