WRAL-TV Rick Gall Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award by RTDNAC

The Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) surprised WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall with a Lifetime Achievement Award for years of tireless service to local news. He received the honor at the organization's 2024 Student Workshop which took place at WSOC-TV in Charlotte on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Gall has been an active member of RTDNAC for 19 years, helping it get its first 501(c)3 status and leading many of their efforts over the past nearly 2 decades.

It's not hyperbole to say he's been the heart and soul of this organization, said RTDNAC Board President, WIS-TV News Director Brad Hyatt in presenting the honor to Gall.

Gall is currently on the Board of the RTDNAC and served as its President in 2008 and 2009.

Also in Gall's honor, the RTDNAC will now call an annual award the organization gives to the best television producer in the state, the Rick Gall Producer of the Year Award.

Early this year WRAL-TV announced that Rick Gall will retire as News Director in May 2024. He has held the position at the station since 2005. Under his leadership, WRAL News has won numerous honors, including consecutive Emmy and Murrow awards for overall excellence.
