MACOM Supports G-SDI Transmiion for 4K infrastructure over a number of Industry Standard Coaxial Cables

LOWELL, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. ( MACOM ), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, announced today that SMPTE compliant 12G-SDI transmission can be supported using MACOM's award winning 12G-SDI cable drivers, equalizers and reclockers over Belden 1694A, 1505A, 1855A and 7731A cable.

As 4K production needs grow in the studio, infrastructure costs are of upmost importance, said Steve Lampen, Multimedia Technology Manager and Product Line Manager for Entertainment Products at Belden. This year, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of 1694A. This cable and our other prolific models of precision video coax have been reliably deployed for years as the industry transitioned from SD to HD to 3G.

Demonstrating a 4K solution that can support the future needs of broadcast, MACOM has successfully transmitted fully compliant links over 1694A, 1505A, 1855A and 7731A using MACOM's 12G-SDI chipset, said Mike Fukatsu, Director of Product Management, High Performance Analog, MACOM.
