Award-winning production studio Picrow has signed director Sara Shelton for her first U.S. commercial representation. Shelton is a writer and director with a truthful approach to comedy that shines a light on the inherent humor found in real life situations. Her keen eye for detail and passion for performance-driven work has been the driving force behind content for such top brands as Sprint, Xfinity, Walmart, Johnsonville Sausages, Country Time Lemonade, Hormel, Sugar Mutts Rescue and IHOP, among numerous others.
At its core her style is authentic and relatable, aiming to spark entertainment by finding the beauty and comedy in even the most mundane moments. Most recently, her spot Legal-Ade for Country Time Lemonade took home six Cannes Lions, including a Gold for Brand Experience & Activation: Social Behaviour & Cultural Insight.
The campaign out of Leo Burnett earned the honors for its clever fusion of humor and real action, with the brand pledging to cover the costs of permits and fines up to $300 for kids whose lemonade stands were shut down by city authorities for operating without a business license. The campaign has also earned a Silver Clio and a Gold Pencil at The One Show 2019.

Shelton began her career as an agency creative, serving as a writer for top agencies such as Droga5 and Johannes Leonardo and working on client accounts ranging from Prudential, Macy's, Motorola, Pure Protein and others.
Notes Picrow Executive Producer Dal Wolf, Sara's humor is sharp; her directorial approach is full strength. She has the insight to make great work, and agencies are experiencing it first hand and clearly reporting it back. She also says thank you' and dislikes club sandwiches. We're excited to be partnering with her.
It's a pleasure working with Dal and Anthony, their approach to creative collaboration syncs up perfectly with mine, adds Shelton. Picrow has an impressive series of top-level partnerships with such major players in the entertainment space as Amazon Studios, and I'm excited to see how I can grow my work in commercials in that direction.
During her tenure on the agency side, she also pursued improv comedy at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade and sketch comedy writing at the PIT in New York City. Her passion for comedy eventually led her to the lesser-known art of story performing. Shes been performing for almost a decade, and has opened for 20-time Moth Slam-winning Adam Wade in his solo show Adam from New Hampshire. Shes also made multiple appearances at Eric Vetters SUPER Storytellers, Asher Novaks The Whole Story and So What Happened Was... in NYC.
