RT honoured with the 2017 Pakman Award

RT honoured with the 2017 Pakman Award RT is delighted to have been named winner of the 2017 Pakman Award. The Pakman Awards, sponsored by Repak, recognises excellence in the environmental approach taken by a business, organisation or community group in all aspects of their operations.

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Mr. Denis Naughten said "I am delighted to be here tonight to acknowledge the excellence in environmental and sustainability efforts from such a variety of companies and industries, with particular congratulations to the overall winner, RT ."

The Pakman judging panel commented that "RT 's entry was exceptional in terms of presentation, measurable impacts and overall buy-in from stakeholders. RT has shown great leadership and advocacy of environmental sustainability. RT delivers excellent waste management and recycling, not only because it makes good business sense but also because it is the right thing to do." RT was also awarded the Professional Services Award on the night.

Commenting on the award, Eileen Duggan, RT Property and Services Executive said, "It is a great honour and we are thrilled to receive this very prestigious award which recognises RTE's sustained commitment to high standards of environmental performance. The award gives formal recognition to the work done by myself, my colleagues and our environmental partners. As Ireland's public service media, this public acknowledgement of RT 's efforts in the field of environmental performance is consistent with our own mission; to be a responsible, sustainable and trusted organisation which continues to reflect and enrich Irish life"

On the work done by RT , S amus Clancy, CEO of Repak said: "The award for RT is in acknowledgement of the excellence in recycling initiatives demonstrated by the institution at large. The company contributes to community and society with a corporate and social responsibility program that is exemplary. They are setting the standards for others to follow."

Earlier this year RT was one of just 25 companies to be also the Business in the Community Business Acting Responsibly Mark. The Mark recognises the commitment and performance of a company to responsible business behaviour. This certification is independently audited by the NSAI and is based on ISO 26000. The standard certifies responsible and sustainable business practice in the workplace, community, environment, marketplace and through corporate governance, as well as recognising highest standards in management, ethics and corporate citizenship.
