RT Radio 1 Launches New Website 24 January 2013: RT Radio 1 today launched its new website with an emphasis on itemised content and update navigation tools, making content discovery a cinch.

The functionality of the new site ensures that users can identify particular items of interest within RT Radio 1 programmes, find them quickly and easily, and listen to them at their leisure.

Audience feedback is at the heart of RT Radio 1's latest website upgrade and, with the listener in mind, the station has re-developed its site with easy-to-discover, itemised content at the forefront.

Research[i] suggests that over 82% of adults in Ireland in the 35-54 age group listen to radio, with 70% of those sampled claiming to have ever visited a radio station's website.

Says Clare Duignan, Managing Director of RT Radio: Our research demonstrated that over half of those who visit radio websites like to listen live'. Of those who prefer to listen back', 90% stated that the most important feature for them is to be able to choose an item or topic rather than listen to the whole programme. As our strategy is to ensure we meet audience needs, we took on-board comments from our broad audience base and as a result significantly improved the site's functionality, with an easy-to-navigate site that is more accessible, with searchable topics and items to facilitate those both listening live and listening back to radio programmes. We also paid particular attention to enhanced social media tools to allow content to be readily shared.

With 60% of users listening live and approximately one third of users listening back, changes made to the website reflect the needs of RT Radio 1's audience. In addition to making itemisation an integral feature of the site, the new site's developers also kept front-of-mind how important it is for users to be able to find the content they want, when they want it. All topics on the RT Radio 1 website are now fully searchable and topics are categorised to make them much more accessible.

The website also features social media sharing tools making not only Radio 1 programmes, but also individual items, easier to share than ever on social media platforms.

The new site hosts full programmes as well as itemised content from all of RT Radio 1's programmes. The RT Radio 1 website is used by nearly half a million unique users and can be found at www.rte.ie/radio1.
