Hoy, esos sonidos, a los que se les ha llamado regional mexicano, han cambiado para reflejar diferentes comunidades y culturas. Una nueva generaci n de artistas mexicanos y mexicoamericanos como Natanael Cano y Fuerza Regida est n mezclando corridos tradicionales con hip-hop. Grupo Firme reinventa el sonido festivo de la banda con emoci n. Y actos como Yahritza y Su Esencia y Eslabon Armado est n reviviendo el sonido del sierreno. Juntos, estos estilos reclaman con fuerza su influencia en ambos lados de la frontera.
Todos estos conforman una nueva ola de la m sica mexicana. En Spotify, el g nero tuvo m s de 39 mil millones de streams a nivel mundial en 2021, impulsado por un aumento del 39 % en M xico y del 31 % en Estados Unidos. En total, esto ascendi a 150 mil millones de minutos de escucha en la plataforma. En los ltimos cinco a os la escucha ha aumentado un 450% a nivel mundial, y hoy en d a, uno de cada tres oyentes de m sica mexicana es de la Generaci n Z.
Una nueva generaci n de fan ticos est descubriendo la m sica que amaban sus padres y reconciliando su identidad musical en torno a culturas que alguna vez estuvieron separadas. Para celebrar esta conexi n nica, Spotify ha lanzado un cortometraje original que destaca la evoluci n del g nero como parte de nuestra campa a, Orgullosos de la Mexcla .
El corto, narrado por Eden Mu oz, retrata las historias de dos generaciones de la cultura mexicana. El xito de Banda MS La Casita , una canci n que Mu oz escribi sobre la migraci n y la nostalgia por los seres queridos que quedaron atr s, se reproduce sobre im genes de video antiguas combinadas con viejas fotos familiares que un padre lleva en su viaje hacia el norte. Luego, el video muestra al hijo del hombre en la Ciudad de M xico corriendo hacia un skatepark vestido al estilo de la nueva ola mexicana, donde los sombreros de vaquero dan paso a gorras de b isbol. Las dos culturas se fusionan visiblemente con la creaci n de una playlist Fusi n en la pantalla, que representa cu n sin fronteras es la m sica hoy y c mo ha evolucionado con nuevos sonidos, ritmos y est ticas.
