A true talent and visionary in the entertainment industry, Pearl Thusi continues to push boundaries and dominate at home, while still landing some impressive roles in the US. With such an impressive CV, we thought we would take a look at five Pearl Thusi facts that you may, or may not, be aware of.

Pearl Thusi facts: A top class talent Miss KZN

Born and bred in Durban, Pearl's passion for the entertainment industry was prominent from a young age.

Her career began in her early school days participating in pageants in the township of kwaNdengezi, KwaZulu Natal. From there, she got her taste of being a star on the humble stages and in front of cameras in her community. In high school, she continued pursuing the only door she could access to enter the industry: Modeling. That door was clearly kicked down with titles as Miss KZN 2005, and First Runner-up in Miss SA Teen in 2003 coming thick and fast.

As her career progressed, Peal modelled for some of the biggest brands on the continent.

A TV debut on a kids show

While Pearl's many fans may only have heard of her from her acting and modelling days, some may have heard of her through the Emtee song, others might remember a little SABC3 interactive animated series.

iCrew was just the beginning of Pearl's SABC 3 work, though. Her acting star really shone brightly after taking on a permanent role on Isidingo, where she played lawyer, Palesa Motaung.

Educated on and off the runway

Pearl completed a start-up venture course at WITS Business School, whilst completing a BA Communications Science through UNISA. Taking the lead from her studies, she is also the co-owner of Ayana Africa Modelling Agency.

Another interesting fact, she is said to co-own the agency with comedian David Kau.

A is for Ayana Africa, the modelling agency I co-own with comedian David Kau and my best friend, model and TV presenter Nzinga Qunta. I'd dreamt of running my own agency since entering Miss Teen SA in 2003.

We recruit and develop our own girls but modelling is just one tier of the agency. The aim is to make Ayana a grooming school - a place where young women can learn how to manage their finances, look after their health and other valuable life skills, Peal told City Press.

A massive love of dogs

During that same interview with City Press, Pearl revealed that she has owned 12 different dogs in her lifetime.

D is for dogs. I love them! I've owned 12 in my lifetime. In fact, I've only ever lived without a dog's company for about two years. I got a couple just before my daughter was born.

When little Poppy died a few years later, Pearl's daughter (who she always reveals as little as possible abut for her protection) was left distraught and cried for days. The blessing an cure of pets, folks. They become a part of the family but can never stay on Earth for anywhere near as long.

Quantico power

This one might be one of the most obvious five facts, but have you actually watched all of Pearl's episodes on the US show? While Quantico has just been renewed for a third season that is set to release in 2018, Pearl's performance in such a prominent role is absolutely worth watching.

She plays a Zimbabwean born FBI agent in training who may or may not have a secret or two.
