When Bradley Wiggins won the 2012 Tour de France and Team GB cleaned up at the London Olympics, it kicked-off a new-found British interest in cycling known as The Wiggo Effect' With the rapid-rise of the British cyclist now very much in fashion, its no surprise that a number designers have jumped on the bandwagon or should we say road bike by creating collections for the fashion-conscious cyclist.

British designer Paul Smith has launched his own cycling apparel range, which is showcased in this beautifully shot brand film. The online film, directed by Oliver Hadlee Pearch, was graded by Finish Colourist Julien Biard, with further post-production work being carried out by Finish Flame Artist Andy Copping.

Scotlands former professional cyclist David Millar stars in the film, which demonstrates the new performance cycling collection in action. The entire collection makes use of Smiths innovative design, utilising technical Swiss-made Schoeller fabrics to produce a range which performs on the bike and looks as equally stylish off it.

Julien says I always enjoy working with Oliver and this is the second Paul Smith ad that weve worked on together (the first being Paul Smith Football) so the idea was to keep this next one in the same world, making it as cinematic as possible, focussing on skin tones and vibrancy in the clothing.

The film takes Millar across three cycling scenarios as he sets the pace of a group which is whittled down from 5, to 3 and then to Millar alone, who is free to ride through the salt flats of Southern Spain. Having tackled the velodrome late at night as part of a five-man team, he then takes on the countryside with two other team mates before hes rewarded with the solo jaunt through some stunning landscapes.

Im a keen cyclist so being involved in this advert has been a real pleasure, adds Julien, and it also features cycling star David Millar, who Im a big fan of!
