VEON's Kyivstar Wins CTO of the Year Award 2022 Volodymyr Lutchenko receives Above and Beyond CTO Award from Mobile Europe
AMSTERDAM, 10th June 2022 - VEON Ltd. (NASDAQ and Euronext Amsterdam: VEON), a global digital operator that provides mobile connectivity and services, announces that Volodymyr Lutchenko , Chief Technology Officer of its operating company in Ukraine, Kyivstar, has received Mobile Europe's CTO of the Year award. Volodymyr Lutchenko was presented with the Above and Beyond CTO award at Mobile Europe's CTO of the Year presentation. Announcing the award, Mobile Europe stated: While this Award recognises of the extraordinary bravery and determination of Volodymyr and his colleagues in maintaining communications in Ukraine right now, the judges also want to stress how impressed they are by the network itself, which was built to be resilient and flexible. The quality of their network strategy, design, deployment and operation has been demonstrated in the most difficult and dangerous circumstances. Mobile Europe, a leading B2B publication in the telecommunications industry, is now in its tenth year of presenting the prestigious CTO of the Year awards, which aim to celebrate the heroes of communications service providers. The awards were decided by a panel of impartial judges comprising the publication's editor along with industry experts.
As CTO of Ukraine's largest provider of electronic communications services, Lutchenko has worked tirelessly to overcome difficult technical challenges during the past five months, while Kyivstar has launched a number of initiatives dedicated to helping the people of Ukraine maintain access to communications and digital services through their mobile devices during exceptionally difficult and dangerous times. Most recently, Lutchenko oversaw the building of over 100 new mastheads, the restoration of towers and repair of damaged infrastructure, and the provision of internet access at over 1,200 shelters.
In this connected world, communication is no longer a privilege, but a vital necessity. Never has this has been clearer than in the events of the past five months in Ukraine, commented Volodymyr Lutchenko. To be able to provide such an essential service for people to stay connected with the loved ones in these unprecedented times is a true honour. I am extremely grateful to Mobile Europe and the members of the judging panel for their recognition. I would also like to thank the amazing team at Kyivstar that has done an incredible job in maintaining operational networks across Ukraine in the most difficult of circumstances.
