Vlaams Minister Demir vergunt windturbine op Barco-site
Kortrijk, 17 mei 2023 - Barco, wereldleider op het vlak van professionele beeldvorming en collaboratie, maakt voortgang met het windturbineproject op zijn bedrijfsterreinen in Kortrijk. Vlaams Minister Demir verwerpt het tiental beroepschriften tegen het project dat de Deputatie van West-Vlaanderen al in september 2022 had vergund, en levert opnieuw een vergunning af voor de bouw en exploitatie van een 4,5 MW windturbine.
Windenergie is een onuitputtelijke energiebron die helpt om de klimaatopwarming tegen te gaan en onze energiebevoorrading veilig te stellen. Om deze redenen heeft de Europese Commissie installaties voor de opwekking van hernieuwbare energie van hoger openbaar belang verklaard. Dit is ook de visie van Barco. Naast een bestaande zonnepaneleninstallatie op het dak van de productiegebouwen, wil de technologieleider nu ook investeren in een eigen windturbine. Met een vermogen van maximaal 4,5 MW zou een windturbine gemiddeld meer dan het volledige jaarverbruik op de campus in het Beneluxpark in Kortrijk kunnen dekken.
Vlaams Minister Demir wijst beroepen tegen omgevingsvergunning voor windturbine af De Deputatie van de provincie West-Vlaanderen heeft op 15 september 2022 een vergunning voor de bouw en exploitatie van de windturbine afgeleverd. Hiertegen tekende een tiental buren en omliggende bedrijven beroep aan bij Vlaams Minister Demir, bevoegd voor Omgeving.
Naar aanleiding van het beroep werd er een nieuw openbaar onderzoek georganiseerd. Er werd een 60-tal bezwaarschriften ingediend (tegenover 336 bezwaren in het eerste openbaar onderzoek). Bijzonder is dat er ook 70 steunbetuigingen v r het windturbineproject werden ingediend door co peranten van Vlaskracht die mee in het project willen investeren, alsook door omliggende bedrijven met interesse om energie van de turbine af te nemen.
Minister Demir heeft nu de beroepen ongegrond bevonden en opnieuw een omgevingsvergunning voor de windturbine afgeleverd. Tegen deze vergunning is nog een beroep bij de Raad voor Vergunningsbetwistingen mogelijk. Barco hoopt dit belangrijk project eind 2024, ten laatste in 2025 te kunnen realiseren.
Maatschappelijke verantwoordelijkheid Investeren in bijkomende hernieuwbare stroomcapaciteit is niet alleen een manier om onze milieudoelstellingen te halen, maar ook een maatschappelijke verantwoordelijkheid , zegt Kurt Verheggen, projectleider van Barco. Barco draagt duurzaamheid hoog in het vaandel, en we zetten daarbij in zowel op aspecten die betrekking hebben op de voetafdruk van onze operaties, als op het energieverbuik van onze eigen producten. We willen deze ambitie ook graag vertalen naar onze campus en, als visioneers, ook onze rol opnemen in duurzame energieopwekking.
