Title-chasing Liverpool take on Chelsea in the game of the weekend in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds start the weekend at the top of the EPL table having won four on the bounce.

Southampton were the last to be slain, as Jurgen Klopp's side picked them off for a 3-1 victory at St Mary's.

The Merseysiders look set to push reigning champions Manchester City all the way as push comes to shove.

Chelsea, somewhat improbably, come into this weekend third in the table.

Boss Maurizio Sarri has defied the pressure on his shoulders to steer his men to three successive victories in the league.

London rivals West Ham were the latest victims, seen off 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The top four is once again a realistic target, with lowly duo Brighton at Cardiff also seen off in recent weeks.

Some David Silva wizardry teed up Sterling early on, only for the England star to scuff his effort wide to the right of goal.

He made up for it in the 15th minute, though, rifling home after being set free by Kevin de Bruyne.

Palace's afternoon went further downhill when Jeffrey Schlupp had to be substituted after coming predictably second to Vincent Kompany in a physical contest.

Potshots from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane had the Eagles in strife again before the break but the hosts clung on despite City's overwhelming dominance.

The Eagles also failed to take off for the second period, in a frustratingly standoffish performance on their home turf.

A distinct lack of ambition came back to haunt them when Sane found Sterling in the middle of the box, with the forward finishing first time inside the left-hand post in the 63rd minute.

Set piece maestro Luka Milivojevic threatened to cause a panic with a tidy free kick that crept in underneath the City wall on 82 minutes.

But Gabriel Jesus finished neatly on the break in the last minute of the 90 to restore the reigning champions to the summit ahead of Liverpool's showdown with Chelsea.
