Adventure Beyond adapted its business model during the pandemic to provide location management services to the production sector, supporting documentaries and reality TV shows

Adventure activity company, Adventure Beyond, has revealed how it survived the pandemic shutdown of its core industry by adapting its business model to provide location management services for the media production sector.
The majority of Adventure Beyond's traditional revenue was generated through tourism, school residential trips, and assessments for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. However, lockdown conditions and subsequent restrictions have significantly affected industries reliant on in-person experiences and tourism, forcing the company to pivot to work more regularly with a range of media production companies, supporting documentary and reality TV projects.
We have worked with Adventure Beyond both prior to the pandemic and during it. The team has proved to be an invaluable resource for planning shoots, said Dale Templar, managing director, One Tribe TV. Adventure Beyond set up a source-to-sea kayaking trip as part of a short documentary series we produced. The crew understood that sections of the environment could be challenging and dangerous if not controlled effectively, but Adventure Beyond's skill and attention to detail ensured that everything ran smoothly. We look forward to working on future projects with the team.
Pre-Covid, location management had formed a very small part of Adventure Beyond's offering, but it has since developed into a key area for the company, which has spent the pandemic period assisting media production teams with location sourcing, access permissions, and shoot planning. The company also offers crews and participants training and guidance in a wide range of outdoor activities.
Jet Moore, the company's managing director, explained, Having worked in the outdoors for many years, the team has a wealth of knowledge to support effective policies and procedures for media production. The pandemic has been extremely tough on the outdoor industry, but our location management services have provided security for our business during this uncertain time. Now that restrictions are easing, we are welcoming activity groups again, but TV and film is an area that we will continue to expand into and an exciting new venture for us.
