CTIAF goes from strength to strength --

CTIAF took place in March this year at River Club, Observatory. With over 1 200 guests this year, 44 hours of workshops and sessions and more than 12 hours of movies over 3 days, the 6th edition was a great success - thanks to everyone who took part either as organisers or attendees.
This year, in addition to our longstanding relationships with the French animation industry, we have been delighted to welcome delegates from Japan, Canada, the UK and US. We re hopeful that these will grow into fruitful associations.
Through these partnerships we also had access to amazing films that are otherwise not distributed in South Africa. Including The Red Turtle, My Life as a Courgette and Miss Hokusai.
Beyond the professional programme, screenings for the general public, and a highly successful stop motion workshop for kids, this was the first year that CTIAF offered an outreach programme. Hosted at Isivivana Centre in Khayelithsa, the programme included a Draw4Life workshop in gesture drawing for over 60 teens from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as a talk from Animate Africa and a screening of Revolting Rhymes with kind permission from Triggerfish and Magic Light Pictures.
The CTIAF is made possible thanks to generous support from sponsors the National Film and Video Foundation; Wesgro; the French Institute of South Africa, The Embassy of Japan and the Canadian Embassy. CTIAF has also partnered with Nickelodeon for two years running to offer internships to outstanding graduates.

CTIAF also hosted a fruitful industry breakfast discussing Animation SAs role in the industry and how best to serve our members. We thank everyone who attended for their input and have been considering the points raised closely.
