The PSL has not granted league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns the postponement of their fixture against Maritzburg United, while doing the opposite for title rivals Orlando Pirates, The Sowetan reports.
The two giants of South African football are the only local clubs remaining in continental competition, and both have home assignments in the Caf Champions League this coming weekend before jetting off to play elsewhere the following week.
In between the home and away clashes, the Brazilians were scheduled to travel to Harry Gwala Stadium for a clash against Maritzburg United on Tuesday, while the Buccaneers were due to welcome Black Leopards to Orlando Stadium.
Both sides had requested fixture postponements ahead of their travels, but it was only that of the Soweto giants which was granted by the League a decision that might leave their Tshwane counterparts fuming.
According to The Sowetan, it was Maritzburg who refused to move the fixture, while Sundowns have also not accepted the alternate date put on the table.
PSL spokesperson, Luxolo September is quoted by the publication saying the League has been striving to assist the two title contenders with sufficient preparation for their African commitments while trying to strike a balance between that and fulfilling their domestic assignments.
It is not always an easy balance. Often it has meant making adjustments which affect other clubs.
We must also look at what is in the interests of the clubs the League and the schedule and keeping our eye fixed on finishing the season as scheduled.
We have had to take all into consideration in making a difficult decision.
Luxolo September Sundowns fly out to Morocco for their Group A finale against 2017 champions, Wydad Casablanca on Saturday, 16 March while on the same day Pirates are in Conakry, Guinea for their Group B clash against Horoya.
The Buccaneers game against Black Leopards will now be played on Friday, 29 March.
