HSE USA today announced that the company s JPEG-XS IP Core for KVM and kvm-tec Scalable Pro Line 5K were honored with three awards at this year's NAB Show in Las Vegas. Both IHSE's kvm-tec Scalable Pro Line and the company's JPEG-XS received Best of Show honors from Sound & Video Contractor magazine, and JPEG-XS also took home the NAB Product of the Year Award in the IT Networking/Infrastructure and Security category.
Broadcast and production applications and other professional media systems are constantly evolving, and IHSE is dedicated to meeting those demands by providing superior solutions, said Dan Holland, marketing manager at IHSE USA. We're elated to receive both a Product of the Year Award and a Best of Show award at NAB 2024. We extend our sincere thanks to the judging panels as well as Sound & Video Contractor and NAB for the recognition.
Fraunhofer IIS's JPEG-XS, an image and video coding system, was developed as a next-generation KVM system based on their high-performance JPEG-XS codec. JPEG-XS allows transferring high-resolution and high-quality video data over standard Ethernet or other wired connections with limited computing resources. In cooperation with Fraunhofer IIS, IHSE is the first KVM manufacturer to implement the codec in an IP core for near-latency-free transmission of high-definition video, enabling resolutions of up to 10K and frame rates of up to 480 Hz. By using Fraunhofer s JPEG-XS SDK and IHSE s JPEG-XS IP core for field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), innovative and ultra-low-latency broadcast, in-house, and gaming video routes can be realized with predictive and precise rate control. The encoding process excludes frame drops and allows for variable subsampling options. In addition, the JPEG-XS IP Core is resource-optimized. Depending on the size of the FPGA used, resolution and bandwidth can be scaled, reducing coding space requirements and development costs.
IHSE's kvm-tec series, KVM-over-IP-based Scalable Pro Line 5K, supports up to 5K60 video and multiviewer capabilities over a 10G network switch. Optimized firmware has made it possible to transmit 4:4:4 color over a typical 10G network switch up to 5120 1440 @60Hz. These extenders uniquely feature the ability to control and manage up to 16 computer sources on a single display via a single keyboard and mouse. By simply moving the mouse inside the gridded cell and clicking, the operator has full control of the source. In addition, up to four Scalable Pro receivers can be network-bonded to allow up to 64 sources across the four displays. Other benefits of the Scalable Pro Line include redundant power, redundant signal ports, and options for audio and RS-232 data transmission. Power input is 12VDC, 3A, and the units can be easily mounted up to four across in a 1RU tray.
We had to bring our largest team of judges to this year's show to keep up with the record number of entries. This just highlights how fiercely competitive the awards are, and how difficult it can be to stand out at a show like NAB, said the Best of Show editorial team. Every winner should be immensely proud of their achievement, the quality throughout the field was extremely impressive, and all of our judges left the show full of praise for the entrants they visited. Well done to all our Best of Show 2024 winners at NAB!
NAB Show is the ultimate marketplace showcasing the latest trends and technology spanning creation, distribution, and monetization in the broadcast, media, and entertainment industry, said senior vice president and chief customer success officer Eric Trabb, NAB Global Connections and Events. Congratulations to IHSE for winning the prestigious 2024 NAB Show Product of the Year Award, a testament to the groundbreaking innovation embodied by the JPEG-XS IP Core for KVM. Its profound impact on the content lifecycle underscores its pivotal role in empowering storytellers to navigate, present challenges, and embrace the opportunities of tomorrow.
