Link TV Premieres New Documentaries and Specials in December

San Francisco, Calif. - Dec. 04, 2013 -Link TV will air new documentaries and specials throughout the month of December. These programs cover an array of topics, including: journeys of self-discovery; the state of the media; economic and political issues; and animal species on the brink of extinction.

The Highest Pass - Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST

A modern Indian yogi and guru conducts a voyage with 7 riders from the jungles of Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, into the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. With a broad range of skills and personalities, the team navigates the difficult terrain, pursuing the highest passes of India and those within themselves. Temperatures go from 100 degrees to freezing. The motorcycles navigate dirt, gravel, snow and ice and the onslaught of loaded trucks, known as road killers, as they climb 18,000 foot peaks. The riders share an experience of a lifetime that will have a lasting effect on them as people and ultimately help them as they continue with their own personal journeys.

Amy Goodman at Greenfest 2013 - Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. PST/11 p.m. EST Award-winning investigative journalist, syndicated columnist, author and the host of Democracy Now!, Amy Goodman delivers the Keynote Address at the 2013 San Francisco Green Festival. Goodman highlights the events, conflicts and social movements shaping our society today and expresses a call to action for a more inclusive and just media. The festival took place on November 9 &10 at the San Francisco Concourse Exhibition Center and gathered over 23,000 attendees.

Downeast - Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. PST/11 p.m. EST

Set during an era of U.S. post-industrialization in which numerous factories have been exported, Downeast focuses on a Boston businessmans plan to reopen a local plant in rural Maine as a lobster-packing facility, and rescue the community from the unemployment line. It seems like the perfect solution. To sweeten the deal, he is eligible for money from a $250,000 federal grant designed to help rebuild the local economy. But this is where everything hits a snag. The local government needs to approve the grant, and as it turns out, some of the politicians happen to work in the lobster industry. While the town shows its support for the newly opened plant, the leaders resist, putting their wallets before the good of the people. This film is a microcosm of the misguided political and social forces that often result in the loss of small businesses and jobs.

Animals on The Brink: Earth Focus Special - Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. PST/11 p.m. EST

This special consists of three telling reports on animal species that are on the brink of extinction. In Shades of Gray: Living with Wolves the focus is on the controversial reintroduction of Gray Wolves in Yellowstone Park and the policy of not allowing hunters to kill them when the stray outside it. The clearing of the Indonesia jungles by giant palm oil plantations, resulting in the possible extinction of the Sumatran Elephant, is featured in Liquid Ivory. Lastly, in Key to Coral Recovery, an innovative offshore coral nursery and how it is restoring the damaged reefs in the Florida Keys is highlighted.
