Late Late Toy Show jumper auction raises 10,000 for the RT 2fm 07 December 2012: All proceeds from the auction donated to St. Vincent de Paul
Ryan Tubridy's Late Late Toy Show Christmas jumper today raised 10,000 for the 2fm Toy Appeal in a live on-air auction on Tubridy on RT 2fm.
The winning bidder, who wishes to remain anonymous, is now the proud owner of the elf-style jumper worn by Ryan on the Late Late Toy Show last Friday, 30 November. The jumper, which has been framed along with a picture Ryan wearing it on the set of the Late Late Toy Show, is now winging its way to the winning bidder.
The 10,000 will be donated to RT 2fm Toy Appeal for the St Vincent de Paul - our wish is that every child gets a toy this Christmas.
Over 1.3 million people were captivated by the elf jumper worn by Ryan on the Late Late Toy Show which was the highest rating TV programme of the year to date.
Ryan Tubridy says: 10,000 is a lot of money today and it's going to make an enormous difference this Christmas to lots of people. The jumper has made people laugh and cry and today it did a good job for the St. Vincent de Paul.
This weekend, 2fm is continuing our support of the RT 2fm Toy Appeal with live broadcasts. Today, Friday 7 December, Rick O'Shea is live between 2pm 4.30pm from SuperValu in Gort, Co. Galway. Tomorrow, Saturday 8 September, sees Ruth and Paddy bring their Weekenders show live from SuperValu in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.
The RT 2fm Toy Appeal for St. Vincent de Paul is now in its third year and was born out of the hugely successful Toys for Tubs initiative in 2010. Last year, the 2fm Toy Appeal saw some 60,000 toys donated and distributed to families in need, worth in the region of 1,200,000.
Once again listeners can donate toys at SuperValu's 195 stores nationwide. Meanwhile, listeners will also be able to donate online at www.2fm.ie/toyappeal or www.svp.ie/toystore.
