PlayBox Technology Reports its Most Productive Ever NAB Show

Palm Beach, FL, May 11, 2017: PlayBox Technology Limited reports the most productive broadcast trade show in its history in terms of expansion to its range of products and services as well the continuing high level of customer interest. Exhibiting at the April 24-27 NAB Show in Las Vegas, the company provided a world-first demonstration of its CloudAir software-as-a-service broadcast playout solution running on the Amazon Web Services platform. Major additions to the PlayBox Neo server-based product family were also announced on the first day of the show.

Our continued success is based on developing the products broadcasters are demanding to meet audience expectations in today's fast-evolving television marketplace, says PlayBox Technology president Don Ash. These new announcements are proof that we can respond energetically to customer demand with new products and refinements that keep us at the forefront of the broadcast playout and channel branding business.

NAB Las Vegas continues to be the number one show for us in terms of visitor numbers and buying power, adds Van Duke, PlayBox Technology US Director of Operations. We were very pleased this year to welcome representatives from some of the largest broadcast networks in the USA, Latin America and many countries around the world.

Among new CloudAir features demonstrated at NAB 2017 were a transcoder capable of handling multiple file wrappers and formats including MPEG PS/TS, MXF, QT, AVI, MP4, GXF, MPG2, H.264, ProRes, DNX HD and MJPEG. Also introduced were an enhanced graphics editor template preparation interface, improved playlist editing, advanced playlist export to EPGs and automated linking of stored assets.

Additions to the PlayBox Neo product series include PlayBox Neo TS Time Delay, SocialMediaBox Neo and the PlayBox Neo Virtual Playout system.

NEW PlayBox Neo TS Time Delay: PlayBox Neo TS Time Delay is a new UDP/RTP data delay server configurable for single-channel or multi-channel time-zone playout. PlayBox Neo TS Time Delay is also ideal for installation in disaster recovery facilities. Each server can deliver up to 10 separately-timed outputs from a single source stream. Delay can be adjusted in quarter-minute increments up to a maximum dependent on the specified storage capacity and the input bitrate. A zero-delay output from each input channel can also be accessed. The server handles compressed DVB/ATSC and is fully transparent to all data in the signal stream. Operating features include program information display and error-logging. Control is via standard Gigabit Ethernet ports.

NEW SocialMediaBox Neo: SocialMediaBox Neo allows production and presentation creatives to incorporate comments from multiple social network feeds quickly and easily into a single ready-for-broadcast data stream. Based on the established SocialMediaBox, the Neo version includes a new Facebook API implementation, the ability to re-use archived feeds plus the display of likes for each post.

Over 40 new features for other modules in the Neo series were also announced. These include the ability to integrate ProductionAirBox Neo closely with the Associated Press ENPS news production system via MOS gateway. Among other additions to the capabilities of PlayBox Neo are extended control features, expanded file handling capabilities, greater input and output connectivity and Microsoft Windows 10 compatibility. These have all been implemented within an informative and intuitive graphic interface which is familiar to operators around the world.
