ird Director s Attachment Scheme film announced as Robert Connolly s Paper Planes

The Australian Directors Guild (ADG) and Screen Australia today announced the third film for the Director's Attachment Scheme, a new industry incentive for emerging feature film directors to develop their craft. Funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG, the scheme provides three director's attachments annually. The third and final opportunity for 2013 will be with director Robert Connolly on his new film Paper Planes.

We are very excited that the third and final attachment for 2013 for this scheme is with Robert Connolly, said ADG Executive Director Kingston Anderson. He is one of our most talented screen directors.

Screen Australia's Head of Development Martha Coleman said, This is another great opportunity for an emerging director to learn from a hugely respected and generous director, like Robert Connolly. It's indicative of the high quality attachments that we intend to continue into the future through this and other schemes, and we are enormously grateful to Robert and Arenamedia for agreeing to participate .

Paper Planes is being produced by Robert Connolly, Maggie Miles and Liz Kearney.

As part of the scheme, participating films primarily shot in Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia are only open to applicants from those states (limited to one per year per state). Participating films shot in all other states and territories are open to applicants from anywhere in Australia. Paper Planes is open to applicants Australia-wide.

Applications may be submitted to the ADG from interested directors who have the following qualifications:

two short fiction drama films publicly screened, OR

one short fiction drama film which has screened at an accredited film festival (Sundance, Berlin, Venice, Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Busan, Rotterdam, SXSW or Telluride), OR

experience directing television series drama or serial drama (but they must convince selectors that they are committed to directing feature film drama).

The applicant will be asked to submit the following to the ADG:

resume

written reference from an established screen industry practitioner

a statement of 100 words or less on why they want to undertake the attachment, outlining the career benefits

DVD copies of past work.

Applications are now open for the third attachment on Paper Planes. The deadline for applications is Monday 19 August.
