Dateline Celebrates 30 Years As Australia's Longest-Running International Current Affairs Program

The multi award-winning international current affairs program, Dateline, returns to air for its 30th year on Tuesday, 18 February at 9.30pm on SBS ONE.

Commissioned in 1984, Dateline is now Australia's longest-running international current affairs program.

Over the course of its proud history, the Dateline team has led the way in exploring new methods of delivering cutting-edge current affairs to give an intimate and provocative view of some of the world's most significant events.

Dateline has brought Australian viewers ground-breaking stories like the extraordinary inside story of families fleeing North Korea, a view inside the Ku Klux Klan, the first interviews with two of the Bali Nine plus asylum seeker Barat Ali Batoor filming his own desperate attempt to reach Australia by boat.

The program has made global headlines with their stories Anatomy of a Massacre', Manus Whistleblower and four weeks on the run with Julian Assange, at the height of the WikiLeaks controversy.

Dateline has been hosted by some of Australia's broadcasting legends like George Negus, Jana Wendt and Mark Davis, as well as being honoured with multiple national and international awards, including 18 Walkley awards - which also includes the prestigious Gold Walkley - four Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year Awards, fifteen United Nations Media Peace Awards, two Logie Awards, plus many more.

The program will return to air on Tuesday, February 18 with Anjali Rao presenting and will celebrate its milestone throughout 2014 as it follows up on stories covered over the years.
