photokina 2018: Raising the Curtain for Creatives The broad range of recording devices and the sheer endless possibilities for processing images and videos with the corresponding software raise the pulse of photo and video artists: complex photo productions are artistically fine-tuned in post-processing. An abstract work of art is created on the smartphone from the mobile snapshot. The 360 video filmed with the action cam becomes a well-rounded matter on the computer. photokina and Pavel Kaplun provide the extraordinary results of these processes a new platform in the context of photokina under the motto NEW POWER TO THE CREATORS.

It is important for us to support photo and video fans in developing a unique character for their art and in creating entirely personal works with the help of professional techniques and technologies. At the same time we offer them the chance to also make their perspectives accessible to others, says Pavel Kaplun about the project. Even prior to photokina, video tutorials, photo posts or competitions, for example, in the social media channels of the project partners will stimulate participation and an exchange of ideas with like-minded people. To this purpose there are numerous tips on technology and design from Pavel Kaplun and his team.

Interactive special area

At the trade fair, Pavel Kaplun and his team will set up a special area of sets for filming and photographing. Visitors can themselves film and photograph at individual stations and thereby receive support from the pros. A comprehensive lecture programme accompanies the special area. photokina focuses on the image. Depending upon the recording device or the processing software, of absolutely central importance for the origin of an image is who is looking through the lens or at a screen, Christoph Menke, Director of photokina emphasises. In future we would like to emphasise this fact at photokina even more intensively, and are pleased to be able to rely on the support of Pavel Kaplun and his team.

Only two months following the start of the Facebook group photokina - NEW POWER TO THE CREATORS, more than 700 photography and video fans have already shared their latest works of art there. They are productively commented upon by the community, with the critical viewpoint of the connoisseur and valuable tips for improvements. At the beginning of March, the first competition started with which the user can submit their best smartphone selfies and portraits. The result is as personal as it is artistically valuable.
