20 November 2019 Today, UKTV announced that Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Zo Clapp is ending her 15-year tenure with the multi award-winning broadcaster after successfully managing the business transition to full BBC Studios ownership this year.
Recently named one of the top 100 marketeers in the UK by Marketing Week, Zo led UKTVs 90-strong Marketing, Communications, Creative, Media, and Social & Online teams through a period of growth which saw UKTVs commercial share of viewing increase by 42%, with a 66% increase in revenues and profits nearly tripling[1].
Zo also oversaw the strategic in-housing of creative functions including the multi award-winning Social & Online team and the off-air creative production function, UKTV Creative. She led the commercialisation of UKTV Creative, which today services a range of external clients with award-winning, multi-platform campaigns, extending UKTVs relationship with Soho post-production house, The Farm. In 2017, she agreed a pioneering cross-agency deal with Omnicom Media Group having launched a comprehensive media tender.

Zo joined the broadcaster in 2005, publicising a range of talent, programmes and entertainment brands before being promoted to Director of Communications in 2012, and becoming the companys first Chief Marketing Officer in 2016. Her commitment to nurturing and fostering the next generation of creative talent has included sponsoring the company-wide year-long training programme for new managers, Management Academy, and establishing Brand Academy, arming divisions with the latest tools and insights to deliver smart, impactful brand marketing campaigns.
Recent award wins for UKTV have included PR Weeks Best Places to Work, Marketing Week Top 100 Marketers, Best Use of Social Media, Brand Film Festival Best Music & Entertainment Brand Film. Prior award wins include IPA Effectiveness Award, Marketing Society Brand Revitalisation of the Year, and Guardian Innovation Launch of the Year.
Zo was also shareholder director with Thinkbox; a council member of ISBA; teaches the Future Leaders programme for Creative Equals; and is a member of WACL, an industry organisation bringing together the most senior female leaders in marketing and communications.
