Charitable Aid Warms Ningbo -- Charitable achievements of Ningbo in 2016 Charity warms and nourishes the hearts of its beneficiaries like sunlight and rain. And love and kindness are spread to every corner of the city through Ningbo Charity Federation. Money for charity: 455 million yuan were collected last year in Ningbo. Ningbo Charity Federation called on the citizens to be more public-spirited and work together for those in need. Last year, the Federation managed to collect 35.569 million yuan for charity, having raising 617 million yuan till 2016. Charity federations of all the districts of Ningbo raised 455 million yuan, having raising 5.514 billion yuan till 2016. Big charity events and small donations combined provide a regular source of funds for charity. Charity events including Let Me Help You were held by Ningbo Charity Federation to raise money for vulnerable groups including children living in difficult circumstances, the very elderly and people with disabilities. 8.992 million yuan were raised in the annual donation activities held by Ningbo in 2016, during which, the staff of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, fully motivated by its Branch of Ningbo Charity Federation, donated a record 716.8 thousand yuan. The Federation has also done a good job in receiving donations, which reached 5.451 million yuan in 2016. A donor called Zhao Yi made five donations which was 249.995 thousand yuan in total; Yang Xiankang from Taiwan donated 20 thousand yuan; a Mr. Lin donated 1.5 million yuan; an anonymous donor who called himself let it be donated 910 thousand yuan, making his donations amount to 8.59 million yuan. A Mr. Hu from Fenghua who now lives in Shanghai has donated 600 thousand yuan in the past 4 years to the children and the elderly who live in bad conditions in his hometown. Ma Jiang donates 2000 yuan every year and she has kept doing so for 11 years. Charity Federation of Fenghua communicates with the donors to have a thorough understanding of their intentions before giving their money to the beneficiaries. Last year, Charity Federation of Xiangshan held an activity called 10 yuan for charity in private enterprises, schools, rural areas and communities for the first time. Staff from 8 enterprises and students from 12 schools took part in the activity, forming a sound atmosphere for charity. Ningbo charity federation provided quality service for enterprises and individuals that had established charitable funds and offered guidance to those who had not. In 2016, 16 charitable funds were established or expanded by enterprises under the guidance of Ningbo Charity Federation, with 5.646 million yuan collected. In 2016, business companies played an important role in establishing and expanding funds. For instance, Ningbo Ruyi Company contributed 2.36 million yuan to Jiwang Medical Fund and Ruyi Fund, which reached 13 million yuan and 11.64 million yuan. The company also spent 1 million yuan establishing a special fund, Ruyi Sanitation Fund, for dedicated sanitation workers of Ninghai. Ningbo Gefter Trading Company donated 1% of the sales of its online store and established Qiguan Fund , bringing a new model for Beilun Charity Federation to establish funds. Last year, donating more than 3 million yuan, enterprises including Shenzhou and Haitian set up the first environmental fund in Zhejiang, which was aimed to promote low carbon activities in Beilun. Ningbo Charity Federation made the best of all resources for charity by strengthening cooperation with other organizations. Up to now, over 10 enterprises and associations including Women Entrepreneurs Association and the 113 Hospital of PLA has set up targeted charitable funds.
