Barcelona 2013 Dailymotion, the world's second largest video destination, today announced an overhaul of its Windows Phone 8 app at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new app will be revamped to include Facebook connect, mobile upload and video discovery features.
Dailymotion users can share their favourite videos with friends directly from the app using the Windows Phone's social integration, including via Facebook, fully integrated for instant publication on Timeline and immediate social distribution. Just as Dailymotion's Windows Phone 8 app allows users to easily find their favourite videos and discover new ones, the new features enable Windows Phone users to share Dailymotion's video content in real-time, hassle-free.
The app's upload features include direct publication right from any Windows Phone 8 smartphone, with the option to choose from videos already saved in a local library or to record and upload videos on-demand. These features tap Lenses, a new experience in Windows Phone 8 empowering mobile users to unleash their creativity as it sparks directly from the phone's camera viewfinder. Adaptive bit-rate controls and quality optimisation ensure the best possible network usage while limiting mobile bandwidth consumption, as well.

In addition to the new app features, Dailymotion's Windows Phone 8 app will continue to allow users to view and discover their favourite video content from Dailymotion's library of more than 30 million videos. Through instant Live Tile updates on the device's Start screen, to notifications on the lock screen, Dailymotion users will never miss the latest and greatest online videos. Dailymotion video results will even be showcased when users search directly on their devices main search platform.
Apps come to life on Windows Phone thanks to features like Live Tiles, Lenses and deep social media integration, said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Phone Apps, Microsoft Corp. Dailymotion takes advantage of all these features and more to enable users to both discover and share their own videos in new and interesting ways.
The new app is scheduled for release to the Windows Phone 8 store in April.
