That is why on this occasion we have given the Portuguese TV channel Porto Canal the chance to explain why they trusted on VSN to completely upgrade their channel's technical infrastructure and to install an End-to-End solution entirely automated. Today speaks with us Porto Canal CTO, David Marques.
Porto Canal is a TV channel focus on news, sports and entertainment that relies on almost 100% self-produced content. The channel is known as Porto Canal since 2011, when it was associated to F.C. Porto football club. Due to this synergy, Porto Canal experienced several changes, like the addition of two new TV channels (Flash Porto and Somos Porto) and more programming focused on sports events, what precisely motivated the company to carry on a complete change of its corporate image, as well as technically upgrade its systems.
Within the project's requisites given by the client, there were some challenging ones like being able to manage all the channel's systems in a centralized way, integrate the new software solutions with the hardware that was previously on-site, or carrying on the whole installation and professional training in record time and without interrupting the regular channel's broadcasting. All these requirements were finally met thanks to the automated HD End-to-End system that VSN deployed in the channel's facilities.
Porto Canal currently uses VSNMULTICOM as its software solution for continuity automation. It is just one of the solutions deployed within the complete End-to-End installation.
Various solutions were sought on the market and VSN was chosen because it met all the requirements that were needed to upgrade the channel. We ended up opting for the solution that comprised Inception in the newsroom, the VSNEXPLORER's MAM properly integrated, VSNMULTICOM as the final playout and VSNLIVECOM for the news playout, which integrates via MOS with the Autoscript that we already had as teleprompter solution', explains Porto Canal CTO, David Marques.
It was interesting to see how people quickly joined and picked up the pace and how most of the reporters that were not familiarized with these tools, in a short time began to take advantage of the solution. I can assure that today we have a workflow that is much more efficient, where everyone's work is also much more productive and effective than before', adds Marques.
