Trailer Debut: Jack Ryan – Shadow Recruit

04/10/2013

A mere day after the death of author Tom Clancy comes the trailer for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, based on Clancy's most famous literary creation.

This reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise sees Chris Pine take on the titular role, following on from predecessors Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck.

In Shadow Recruit, he's new to the spy game, mentored by Kevin Costner, and set on the tail of a villainous Russian played by notorious non-Russian Kenneth Branagh.

Branagh also directs.

We also get to see Ryan living a secret, domesticated life with his girlfriend, played by an American-accented Keira Knightley.

When she discovers his true trade, hilarity ensues. (Well, not really. But it should be funnier than Pine's This Means War, at least.)

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit arrives in cinemas January 1, 2014.

Remember kids, this is geopolitics, not couples therapy.
