Niko Waesche - Global Media & Entertainment Lead, GfK
In his session "Video consumption, does the internet rule?" Niko will be discussing how the pioneers are no longer traditional broadcasters but YouTube, Netflix and Amazon. He will discuss how some of the highest quality, highest bandwidth content is being delivered exclusively through the internet.
About Niko
Niko is the Global Industry Lead for Media and Entertainment at GfK. He oversees GfK s global media and digital business, covering research and data services for clients such as Google, Facebook, Time Warner and The Walt Disney Company. Prior to his role at GfK, Niko held several prominent media roles. He co-founded GMPVC, a media-for-equity fund, which allows media groups to use their advertising inventory to invest in startups. At IBM, he was responsible for the media industry in Europe, dealing with digital transformation for key accounts. Niko is widely published. His latest book, SimplySeven (Palgrave Macmillan) is a guide to the seven business models of the web. Niko has a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and also studied at the Johann-Goethe-Universit t in Frankfurt and Brown University in Providence.
Muriel De Lathouwer - CEO, EVS
Muriel will be taking part in the panel discussion "What is our industry? Do we need to define it differently?". This panel will discuss how the industry has evolved into much more than just "Broadcast" and that if your customer base is exclusively "broadcasters" then you may be missing out on alternative business opportunities.
About Muriel
Muriel De Lathouwer (representing MucH sprl) has been the managing director and ceo of EVS since February 2015. Before this appointment she was serving as the interim president of the EVS executive committee since the departure of Joop Janssen in October 2014. She has been a member of the EVS board of directors since November 2013 while she also chaired its strategic committee. Muriel started her career as an IT consultant at Accenture before spending seven years at McKinsey in Brussels. Here she acted as an associate principal between 2006 and 2008 and specialised in the telecom, high tech and media sectors. Between 2008 and 2009, she was then chief marketing officer of the mobile telecom operator BASE (a subsidiary of KPN). Before taking her executive role at EVS in 2014, Muriel was the managing director and co-founder of an engineering consultancy firm specialising in energy and environmental matters. Muriel is an engineer of nuclear physics (ULB, Brussels), and holds an MBA from Insead in Paris. She is a member of Women on Board - a European-wide network of female members on various boards of directors. She is a member of the board of directors of Amoobi - a technology company specialising in customer flow analytics.
