SBS announces broadcast schedule for 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

Hosted by former Socceroo Captain Craig Foster and The World Game s Lucy Zelic, and with exclusive commentary from Martin Tyler, SBS's coverage will begin with the opening match on Thursday 14 June from 10.30pm* as hosts Russia face Saudi Arabia, kicking off a huge month of football on SBS.
The blockbuster first weekend continues with the highly anticipated clash between Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and fierce rival Spain from 3.30am*, Saturday 16 June, ahead of coverage of the Socceroos premiere appearance from the family-friendly time of 7pm* Saturday night when they play world number seven** France before Cup favourites Germany take on Mexico from 12am*, Monday 18 June.
SBS's coverage of the Socceroos' campaign to progress from Group C under new coach Bert van Marwijk will also see the boys in green and gold face Denmark from 9pm* on Thursday 21 June then Peru on Tuesday 26 June from 11pm*. Both matches will feature exclusive commentary from David Basheer and former Socceroo Captain Craig Moore and extensive analysis live from Russia.

We know Aussies love to get behind our sporting heroes and are confident they will join us in supporting the Socceroos, and of course their other national teams, as they take on the best in the world in Russia next month.
SBS is deeply passionate about football, believing its universal appeal can break down barriers without language. In our 30th year broadcasting the FIFA World Cup , Australians can again turn to SBS's trusted coverage and analysis of the tournament on television, radio, and digital this June and July.
Throughout the Group Stage, live match coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on SBS will feature at least 19 of the 32 competing nations with more to be covered in the Round of 16 and Finals.

RADIO
SBS Radio will broadcast all 64 matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia , live and free via the official FIFA World Cup and SBS Radio apps. Matches will be broadcast in up to three languages simultaneously; English and in languages of competing teams.
SBS Radio's English coverage will feature expert analysis by former Matilda striker Kate Gill, former Socceroo goalkeeper Clint Bolton and current Melbourne City FC defender Scott Jamieson.
Throughout the tournament, SBS Radio will broadcast in at least 13 languages including Arabic, Korean, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, more than any other FIFA World Cup broadcaster. SBS Radio's multilingual coverage is produced in partnership with the best sports media from around the world.
DIGITAL
The World Game website will stream all 25 SBS matches live alongside and the latest scores, video highlights, breaking news and analysis from all 64 games from Russia.
Australians will be able to stay on the ball anytime, anywhere with the official FIFA World Cup app - the ultimate Russia 2018 companion. All 64 matches of the 2018 tournament will be available to stream live via the app, which will be available from June 4, with SBS's match of the day free for all users and the remaining 39 matches available within the FIFA World Cup app to Optus Sport subscribers.
The official app will also feature exclusive enhanced viewing functionality and multi-angle replays, and immersive stats at your fingertips while the new FIFA World Cup VR app will allow fans to enjoy the game from every angle with live 180 and 210 super wide shots, and 360 video on demand.
SBS's full FIFA World Cup supporting programming schedule featuring FIFA Classic Matches and daily highlights and analysis live from Red Square will be announced closer to June.
