Hollywood, Calif., - March 13, 2020 - Whether you like tales of social justice, natural history, close-ups of heroes who were ahead of their time, true crime, or something that's #strangerthanfiction - our upcoming slate will give our members amazing stories they can't find anywhere else. Over 147 million households have chosen to watch at least one documentary on Netflix in the last year, and were expecting our coming lineup to give members more to talk about with their friends.

Upcoming documentary features and series from acclaimed creators include The Innocence Files from Academy Award nominee Liz Garbus, Academy Award winner Alex Gibney and Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams; Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich from director Lisa Bryant and Academy Award nominee Joe Berlinger; Trial by Media from executive producers Jeffrey Toobin and Steven Brill, Smokehouse Pictures' Academy Award winners George Clooney and Grant Heslov, and Supper Club's Brian McGinn, Jason Sterman and David Gelb; and Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution from Emmy Award winner Nicole Newnham and first-time director Jim LeBrecht, which took home the U.S. Documentary Audience Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Here's a look at some of our best in class documentary films and series premiering on Netflix over the next few months:

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness (Limited Series, March 20)

Among the eccentrics and cult personalities in the stranger-than-fiction world of big cat owners, few stand out more than Joe Exotic, a mulleted, gun-toting polygamist and country western singer who presides over an Oklahoma roadside zoo. Charismatic but misguided, Joe and an unbelievable cast of characters including drug kingpins, conmen, and cult leaders all share a passion for big cats, and the status and attention their dangerous menageries garner. But things take a dark turn when Carole Baskin, an animal activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary, threatens to put them out of business, stoking a rivalry that eventually leads to Joe's arrest for a murder-for-hire plot, and reveals a twisted tale where the only thing more dangerous than a big cat is its owner. A Life of Speed: The Juan Manuel Fangio Story (Film, March 20)

Based on a study conducted in 2016 by the University of Sheffield that determined that Juan Manuel Fangio is the best F1 driver in history, A LIFE OF SPEED: THE JUAN MANUEL FANGIO STORY seeks to get inside the mind of the legend throughout his career and personal life to understand what led him and other drivers to risk their lives racing in cars that flew at the same speeds as today, but with minimal safety precautions and where many do not make it to the end of the season. Directed by Francisco Macri.

Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution (Film, March 25)

Down the road from Woodstock, a revolution blossomed in a ramshackle summer camp for teenagers with disabilities, transforming their lives and igniting a landmark movement. CRIP CAMP is an untold story co-directed by Emmy Award winner Nicole Newnham and film mixer and former camper Jim LeBrecht. How To Fix A Drug Scandal (Limited Series, April 1)

In 2013, Massachusetts State Police arrested 35-year-old crime drug lab chemist Sonja Farak for tampering with evidence: and that was only the beginning. Over time, details emerged that Farak had been in fact using the drugs that she was tasked with testing. Did anyone know what had been going on? And when did they find out? The scope of Farak's addiction-and the number of people convicted as a result of her drug testing-comes to light, despite repeated efforts to suppress evidence in the case. This riveting four-part docuseries directed by Erin Lee Carr (MOMMY DEAD AND DEAREST, DIRTY MONEY) examines an essential, but obscured, part of the criminal justice system. In addition to recreations of Farak's compelling grand jury testimony, interviews with attorneys and experts, we also hear from Faraks family for the first time; delving deep into how the actions of one crime lab employee can impact tens of thousands of lives. The Innocence Files (Limited Series, April 15)

THE INNOCENCE FILES shines a light on the untold personal stories behind eight cases of wrongful conviction that the nonprofit organization the Innocence Project and organizations within the Innocence Network have uncovered and worked tirelessly to overturn. The nine-episode series is composed of three compelling parts - The Evidence, The Witness and The Prosecution. These stories expose difficult truths about the state of America's deeply flawed criminal justice system, while showing when the innocent are convicted, it is not just one life that is irreparably damaged forever: families, victims of crime and trust in the system are also broken in the process.
