Going Back to Berklee: Plans Announced for Fall 2020

This past January, few in higher education could have predicted the kind of 180-degree turn that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic would bring to colleges and universities around the world. Now that the spring semester is over, its hard not to see March 2020 as a generational flashpoint-the kind of upheaval that made people everywhere rethink everything from how to teach theater to where to find hand sanitizer. The Berklee community moved swiftly to a fully remote curriculum, gave the world some love, and conducted our first ever virtual commencement. We learned that students deserve more than video chats, and most of all, we discovered that Berklee could, in fact, happen anywhere.

As the semester concluded, the question on everyones mind was: But what happens for the fall semester?

After careful consideration regarding the health and well-being of the entire Berklee community, the institution has announced reopenings for Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and the campus in Valencia, Spain, in a hybrid on-campus/remote capacity. Back to Berklee, the hybrid models name, offers a host of customizable academic modalities, and looks to meet every student where theyre at-whether theyre new or returning, domestic or international, undergraduate or graduate.
