After over one years preparation, to serve 550,000 registered volunteers and over 1400 volunteer organizations, Ningbo Municipal Committee of Communist Youth League, Ningbo Volunteer Association and Ningbo Civilization Office launched the "We" volunteer service platform, integrating such services as professional registration, post issuing, supply-demand docking, service record, organizing and managing, educational training, and intelligent matching in both Chinese and English. The platform makes it possible for everyone interested to become a volunteer by breaking the information barrier.
The platform has so far attracted over 1500 professional volunteers and launched about 100 volunteer posts in 16 categories, including community services, credit check, English translation, tutor service for college students, museum illustration, environmental protection and psychological consultancy. With the "online shopping" concept, the volunteers can log onto the We platform, then the post information will be ordered in line with the volunteers specialty and intended service time, realizing the smart docking of volunteers and posts.
As is known, the platform divided the volunteers into three categories: students, employees and retirees. There are different parameters for people of different categories according to their characteristics. As volunteers can choose the posts and activities they like based on their special capacity and the features of the posts, the platform can provide an adequate docking between services and volunteers.
"Besides, we make the volunteer service file for each volunteer, which will facilitate the communication with each other and provide regulations and incentives for their services, improving the satisfaction and recognition of both the volunteers and the service demanders." said a person in charge from Ningbo Committee of Communist Youth League. All the registered volunteers have their own online file, which records the track of each volunteer, including the service time, content and training information.
At present, the English version of the platform has been put into operation, and a lot of overseas volunteers who are working or studying in Ningbo have joined in. Just a month ago, Ningbo International Volunteer Base was founded at the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, with the aim of developing and cultivating international volunteer service programs and building an international version of the volunteer platform.
