CommitteeLA turned to Brewster Parsons, the award-winning visual effects, CG & design studio, and EXILE Editorial for their social media-driven Super Bowl campaign for Wix.com. Featuring former NFL players and their new careers after retirement, the Wix.com campaign has been teased out via social media before the big game with the final spot being unveiled on Super Bowl Sunday.

In the initial, 70-second version, by CommitteeLA, viewers see Brett Favre asking Lloyd (Rex Lee from Entourage fame) for advice on what his next career move should be. Viewers also see Emmitt Smiths line dancing bar, Terrell Owenss cooking show, retired NFL all-pro Larry Allens towing business, all supported by self-made websites via Wix.com. Running in the Super Bowl will be a 30-second version, which may just include the all-new: Favre & Carve. This is a first foray into Super Bowl advertising for Wix.com, the leading cloud-based web development platform with millions of users worldwide.
According to Brewster Parsons VFX Supervisor Andrew Eksner and Producer Zack Whitley, the Wix.com campaign was executed by a series of seasoned and concise creative teams. Everyone knew their particular expertise so well, says Eksner, that the creative process was very well organized and a real pleasure to be part of. The creative is fresh and great; we enjoyed every minute. We are still laughing each time we look at it.
The social media component was key to the campaign's roll-out, points out Whitley. The initial pieces were teased out on social media which did incredibly well, so they came to us with more pieces to finish, he details. As the campaign grew more popular, so did the deliverables. It was really fun to see the campaign take on a life of its own.
The EXILE team of Executive Producer CL (Carol Lynn) Weaver and Editor Conor O'Neill agree. This was not a straight-forward, 30-second Super Bowl broadcast spot by any means, explains Weaver. The team at Committee had everything planned out well in advance. There was a lot of material for the various spots and web films, but the creative/production team did a fantastic job with this. They really delivered the goods.
It was great to see these NFL legends having such a good time and being so willing to have a little fun with their public personas, adds O'Neill. These guys really enjoyed themselves; and I think it shows in the spots. Ive worked with a lot of great actors and Brett Favre has more on-screen charisma than almost all of them, no joke. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if he became a movie star one day.
