Four teams have been selected for the Hot Shots: Short Fiction Funding program and will receive a total of $280,000 in support from Screen Australia.

Writer/director Sarah-Jane Woulahan and producers Anna Kojevnikov and Sally Storey will be supported to produce A Terrible Beauty, a science fiction film that follows Olivia as she questions her fundamental belief in a world without suffering and the nature of love, after her father destroys her prototype Soulmate' robot, a replacement for her dead mother.
Writer/director Matthew Richards and producer Brendan Guerin's film The Disappearance of Willie Bingham is an absurdist horror film based on the short story The Wilbur Bledsoe Amputations' by Michael L Fawcett, where in the future, amputations replace incarceration and the death penalty.
From writer/director Lucy Gaffy and producer Kiki Dillon comes Elvis, a drama based on a story by executive producer Michaela Perske, about a young girl trapped in a seaside caravan park who thinks up a scheme to break free and make a better life for herself.
The team behind Whirlpool consists of writer/director Corrie Jones and producers Melissa Kelly and Jaclyn Hewer. The film is based on the short story Cumberland Breakdown' by Joyce Carol Oates and involves Regan who, after losing her father in a fire, sets out with her friend Lucas to seek retribution on the couple they believe are responsible for his death.
The Hot Shots: Short Fiction Funding program supports practitioners refining their skills to make a feature film.
The deadline for the second round of the Hot Shots: Short Fiction Funding program is 20 March 2015.
